As our students and teachers prepared for the beginning of new school year, St. Martin's held a Blessing of the Backpacks during their 10:30 am worship service. Students brought their backpacks to church and laid them in front of the altar before the service began. During the service these backpacks were blessed and a prayer was offered for the returning students and teachers by The Rev. Amy Dills-Moore, the Associate Rector at St. Martin's.
As part of the Blessing of the Backpacks, school supplies were collected for the New American Pathways, an affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries, which provides approximately 5,000 refugees per year with the necessary tools to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term success.
