The Word of God

A hymn, psalm, or anthem may be sung.
The people standing, the Celebrant says
Blessed be God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
PeopleAnd blessed be his kingdom, now and for ever.
In place of the above, from Easter Day through the Day of Pentecost
CelebrantAlleluia. Christ is risen.
PeopleThe Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia.
In Lent and on other penitential occasions
CelebrantBless the Lord who forgives all our sins;
PeopleHis mercy endures for ever.
The Celebrant may say
Almighty God, to you all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our
hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may
perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy Name;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

S-236 Benedictus es, Domine...will now replace the following hymn of praise..

When appointed, the following hymn or some other song of praise is
sung or said, all standing
Glory to God in the highest,
    and peace to his people on earth.

Lord God, heavenly King,
almighty God and Father,
    we worship you, we give you thanks,
    we praise you for your glory.

S236. A Song of Praise

1. Glory to you, Lord God of our fathers;
you are worthy of praise; glory to you.
2. Glory to you for the
radiance of your holy Name;
we will praise you and
highly exalt you for ever.
3. Glory to you in the splendor of your temple;
on the throne of you majesty, glory to you.
4. Glory to you, seated between the cherubim;
we will praise you and
highly exalt you for ever.
5. Glory to you, beholding the depths;
in the hight vault of heaven,
glory to you.
6. Glory to you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit;
we will praise you and
highly exalt you for ever.
