St. Martin's Church and School -

St. Martin School and Episcopal Church

St. Martin's School Sunday

Feast of the Presentation

The Presentation of Jesus at (or inthe Temple is an early episode in the life of Jesus, describing his presentation at the Temple in Jerusalem in order to officially induct him into Judaism, It is described in the chapter 2 of the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament of the Christian Bible.[1] Within the account, "Luke's narration of the Presentation in the Temple combines the purification rite with the Jewish ceremony of the redemption of the firstborn (Luke 2:23–24)

Each February school and church come together for a common worship service.
During this service, St. Martin's School provides students, teachers, and staff to participate in the service.

The Chapel Service follows the framework of  Word of God from the Holy Eucharist, which includes Psalms, Lessons, and the Gospel that are presented in a way that makes it interesting and informative to the students.

The service concluded with a celebration of the Holy Communion celebrated by St. Martin's Church Rector, The Rev. Monica Mainwaring.

Some history....
St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church was organized in 1951

The first service was held in the present nave in 1954, and St. Martin’s became a full parish of the diocese in 1956. In 1959, a school was established as an outreach of St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church and the first kindergarten class consisted of 45 Brookhaven children. Today, St. Martin’s Episcopal School (SMES) is a co-educational day school serving approximately 635 students from 2-years-old through 8th grade.
